What is this calibration file for? What can I do with it? Can I use it in REW somehow?

Hello Don,

This file is to compensate for some uneven frequencies in the accompanying XREF20 microphone's frequency response.

You can use it in conjunction with the microphone to make neutral measurements with either our software or third-party software.

Hi Karl,

Thank you for answering my questions.

Should I use the file in REW? If yes, how do I use it?

Hello Don,

Normally it is used in our Reference 3 Speaker calibration software. It is one of the first steps in the application where it asks you to load a calibration file for the microphone.

You can use it also in REW as a .txt file when pressing File -> Import Frequency Response to make neutral measurements with our microphone.

Hi Karl, I have a follow-up question regarding this.  When importing the .txt file in REW, a dialogue pops up that asks "Apply C-weighting compensation to the data?"  Is this something you'd want to say yes to?

Hey Mark!

You should not apply any weighting to the microphone calibration file as that would impact the results you're getting.
