Upgrade Paths for Reference 3 and 4

• Reference 3 Speaker plugin or Reference 4 Studio Edition to SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones with Virtual Monitoring Add-On
• Reference 3 Speaker plugin or Reference 4 Studio Edition to SoundID Reference for Multichannel with Virtual Monitoring Add-On

Upgrade compatibility

If you own Reference 3 or 4 you can upgrade it to SoundID reference. Nevertheless, you will have to keep in mind the upgrade compatibility of certain product versions. This article will guide you through possible upgrade paths. 

Upgrade to SoundID Reference for Headphones

If you own Reference 3/4 Headphone Editions, you can use a direct upgrade path to SoundID Reference for Headphones. SoundID Reference for Headphones can also be used in further upgrades. 

Upgrade to SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones

Reference 3/4 Studio Editions, can be upgraded directly to SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones. Reference 3/4 Headphone Edition can be upgraded to SoundID Reference for Speakers & Headphones in two upgrade steps:

1. Reference 4 Headphone to SoundID Reference for Headphones
2. SoundID Reference for Headphones to SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones (you also have an option with the measurement microphone)

Upgrade to SoundID Reference for Multichannel

Reference 4 Studio Edition, can be upgraded via a direct path to SoundID Reference for Multichannel. If you own Reference 3 Studio Edition or Reference 4 Studio Edition (Educational license), the upgrade can be achieved as follows:

• Reference 3 Studio Edition to SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones to SoundID Reference for Multichannel
• Reference 4 Studio Edition (Educational license) to SoundID Reference for Speakers and Headphones to SoundID Reference for Multichannel
